What is Craniosacral Therapy (CST)?
Craniosacral therapy is a blend of bodywork and energy work. This modality works gently with the subtle third pulse of the human body. The first pulse is the heart beat, the second the breath, and the third is the flow of cerebrospinal fluid through the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord). The craniosacral system forms a semi-closed hydraulic pump, in effect continuously pulsing to wash the brain and spinal cord in fresh fluid, allowing it to receive nutrients, protect the spinal cord, and release waste.
CST practitioners tune into this subtle rhythm at various point in the body to detect the places of ease and flow as well as the places of constriction within the system. Very gentle therapeutic touch combined with intention and deep presence are used to release places where the pulse is constricted, ultimately facilitating optimal flow and rhythm within the craniosacral system, and in turn the entire body.
